Good price, easy to install May 24, 2010 A. Brussat This newest addition to my bedroom doorway has not let me down. Had it installed in ten minutes with very little measuring. A drill helps-- following the instructions definitely helps, and they're quite simple. The safety catch mechanism (two metal flaps that hold the bar in place) is a little awkward, but since I only use it for chin-ups that won't be a problem. The grips don't slip on the metal at all.
Great bar, especially for the money! April 25, 2010 Mother of three (Rochester, NY United States) I shopped around and read a lot of reviews before deciding on this bar. I am so glad I got it, and have been very impressed. I bought it so my daughter could practice her gymnastics, and she loves it!
Pros:
Easy installation
2 sets of brackets, for two different heights (and both are weight-bearing)
Pads are completely removable (even my 5-yr-old can put them on)
Very sturdy (holds my 200-lb husband no problem, and my kids swinging on it)
Cons:
Bar is very difficult to get in and out of the brackets. It has latches that "lock" it into place, so it is very sturdy and reliable, but can be very hard to get out, once it's locked into place. If you are planning on moving it high and low a lot, you might want to buy two, since it is so reasonably priced.
Does the job with little expense. April 22, 2010 Todd Bounds (OXNARD, CA, US) I started using this pull up bar a couple of weeks ago, it was easy to install and doesn't look terrible. The grips haven't slipped on me yet, but I can understand how they might. I'm not worried about whether or not it will support me, the only thing I've had to be careful of is getting blisters because I'm either at a desk all day or teaching at CI Bible College ([...]) (hence the reason I got a pull up bar for the home). Great product for the price!
sturdy bar, difficult to get out February 14, 2010 Jeremiah (Boston, MA) The bar is sturdy and feels like it will hold up pretty good. Maybe there is a trick I just haven't found yet, but once the bar sets into the brackets I have a heck of a time getting it out. There's a locking system to keep the bar in that feels like its more complicated than it should be. I set the locks to face out like it says but I still can't get the bar out of the brackets without having to hit it really hard from underneath.
Satisfied with the purchase January 19, 2010 Shameal Ali 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I am satisfied with the purchase, there were a lot of reviews that talked about how the company used cheaper items etc. and alot of people are not satifisfied with the product etc
Before, buying this product, look at what you firstly have available home, if you got a wooden door frame or a concrete door frame greater than 25" but less than 36", then this product is suitable for you
I have a concrete door frame, i used my hilti drill and wall plugs to install the brackets (with the screws supplied - people just take your time, keep your screwdriver or drill straight and the screws go in flush without rounding of the heads - you just gotta know how to use the things.... don't go saying the screws are cheap....blah blah blah.....know the proper way to use them), make sure and use all five screws, once installed there has been absolutely no problem in its use
They even sent an extra pair of brackets so you can install this other set at the base of the door frame to do push ups and you can also lock your feet when doing certain types of abdominal exercises, i have been using the product with P90X an no problems yet
Working like an absolute charm.
I gave fours stars because of incorrect advertising, the product that you see in the picture is not what you will receive - but the application is the same however.
